Grants

The Society makes grants both to individuals and to organisations in support of cultural and scientific activities which increase innovation, outreach and diversity in Leeds and its immediate area. It also supports local museums and galleries and publications relating to the city.

About the Society

The Leeds Philosophical and Literary Society, founded in 1819, is a charity that promotes interest in science, literature and the arts – in the city of Leeds and beyond. We have meetings, lectures, entertainments, publications and visits.

Please join us for the return of our Annual General Meeting and dinner. Please book your place below no later than Wednesday 30 November.

This listing is to book your place for the AGM and dinner. If you wish to attend the AGM but not the dinner, please book your place here.

The AGM only can be attended either in-person or online via zoom.

 

AGM & Dinner details

18:00 Reception, with mulled wine

18:30 AGM – take your role as a member in overseeing the report of the last year’s activities and helping to set the path for the next year

19:00 Members and guests are warmly invited to the reception and dinner, with entertainment by Adrien and Edouard – guitar and voice

Dinner is £39 per person. This includes mulled wine at the opening reception and a glass of wine or soft drink with the meal. The wine with dinner will be Vamonos Sauvignon Blanc (Chile) or Il Molo Merlot (Italy).

Starter, a choice of either:

  • Trio of salmon: warm smoked salmon tart, salmon dill mousse, gravlax salmon with pickled cucumber and lemon gel
  • Tian of tomato filled with butternut squash and tofu mousse served with a pea and cannellini bean dressing (V) (Ve) (GF)

Mains, a choice of either:

  • Braised beef brisket served with pomme purée, caramelised onion confit, roasted carrot & port jus (GF)
  • Pea and leek risotto topped with a soft boiled egg and homemade parsley pesto (V)(G/F)

Dessert, a choice of either:

  • Homemade apple & blackberry crumble with calvados crème anglaise (V)***
  • Lemon and thyme scented posset served with cinnamon palmier (V) ***
