I peered down from the top of the Palace wall, my stomach twisting like it was full of angry snakes. I stared at Father King William V’s pale petrified face stiff like a statue carved from fear. His eyes wide, staring and unblinking, I reached out and touched his cheek. His skin felt soft and cold, and that scared me even more. I trembled in fear as he started mumbling
“I’m so sorry for this son. I now realise my mistake. I know you will be the greatest King ever. You must run, I’ll stay.”
My heart thudded so loudly I thought the guards might hear it. I squeezed my father’s arm, I was so worried my voice trembled
“But you’ll die and I have to run away from here.” Tears ran down from the corners of my puffy eyes and down my face like a river meeting the sea as I let go of my father’s arm.
My father led me to a secret old dusty rotten passage; I crawled into it coughing and spluttering as dirt puffed up around me. I kissed my father’s goose bumped face and whispered upset “goodbye dad, I will see you soon”. One last tear fell onto his hand as he closed the passage and the darkness swallowed me up.
I wriggled and wiggled my way through the in the filthy tunnel while my golden satin clothes, snagged and ripped an became dark brown with grime. Suddenly a flicker of light shone through, I had finally got to the end of the dark tunnel. I stepped out and stood up proudly like a lion. I glanced up but saw nothing but despair and sadness.
“What is going on,” I said. I slithered down the tall hill I was standing on, like a scaley serpent.
A young boy with a large, twisted nose came up to my pale body and with a deeply sorrowful face he exclaimed “What are you doing here? Who are you?”
I gazed at his nervous worried face in disbelief of what on earth is happening. I finally looked back at him and voiced proudly “I’m the King.”
His sulky face started to light up with a jubilant smile. He started jumping up and down like there was no tomorrow and put his, sweaty hands on my, anxious shoulders.
He looked up and said, “So you can save us all….”
