Ellie’s Time Travel!
One sunny morning there was a girl called Ellie who was playing football with her brother called Eden in the beautiful city of Leeds.
“Goal! You won, Eden!” shouted Ellie happily.
“By the way, look at this ring I found,” said Eden, holding up a shiny silver ring with strange patterns on it.
Ellie carefully took the ring and slipped it onto her finger.
The moment she did, a bright golden light surrounded them. The ground shook suddenly they were wooshed high into the air!
“Ahhh!” screamed Eden.
A few seconds later they landed with a bump in a grassy field.
“What just happened?” cried Eden.
“I think we travelled back in time,” whispered Ellie, staring in amazement.
In the distance they could see old wooden carts, horses and people wearing long coats and bonnets.
The two children walked carefully along a dusty road until they reached old Leeds Corn Exchange. People were selling fruit, cloth and bread from busy market stalls.
“Wow,” said Eden. “Leeds looks so different!”
As they explored, they also spotted Leeds Kirkgate Market full of shouting sellers and shoppers carrying baskets.
“I spy with my little eye something green,” said Eden.
“The grass?” laughed Ellie.
“Yes!”
Suddenly they noticed an old man dropping apples everywhere.
“Let’s help him,” said Ellie kindly.
The children quickly picked up the apples and placed them back into the basket.
“Thank you!” smiled the man. “You are very helpful children.”
Then the mysterious ring began glowing again.
“Oh no,” said Eden. “It’s happening again!”
WHOOSH!
The bright light swirled around them and suddenly they landed back in Leeds but this time it was 400 years in the future!
Tall glass buildings stretched into the sky. Flying buses zoomed above the streets.
“Look!” shouted Ellie.
In the middle of the city stood the famous Leeds Town Hall, still standing proudly beside giant glowing towers. Nearby, the clock tower of Leeds Civic Hall shone with bright blue lights.
“Even after 400 years, Leeds is still amazing,” said Eden.
Ellie smiled. “The past, present and future are all part of the same city.”
The ring sparkled one final time as the children looked across the city wondering where or when it might take them next.
